A lot of labor this Labor Day...

Monday, 06 September 2010 01:49
A more aptly named weekend there is not!  Jason and I (and Erwin and Chelsea and Alicia) have been working non-stop to get TJ's 72nd ready for opening, PLUS, my sister-in-law will be having her baby in TWO DAYS!  We are representin'  labor on all fronts.  Tune in at the end of September for plenty of pics of our latest Trader Joe's work, or,  go check it out yourself at 72nd and Broadway after September 20th.  I won't be there, but you might recognize a jellied English Muffin or two...

Pepto has you covered...

TurkeyDancingI have entered yet another contest, this one is for Pepto Bismol.  They wanted four 15-second shorts, which really is a short amount of time to tell any kind of story.   There are some pretty funny ones in the running so far, my favorite includes a guy sitting on the toilet in the middle of his living room.   You can check mine out here.

Beat the heat with some cool screenings!

KiraDragonClipIt's tough to motivate  in the middle of a heat wave, but here are three great shows  this week that might help to take your mind off the fact that merely sitting upright causes a full body sweat:

This Tuesday, July 27, at 7:30 pm, Kira Blazek's "7 Body Language Mistakes" will be performed at Dixon Place in the Lower East Side (161 A Chrystie Street).  I have collaborated with her to make an animation that will screen before the dancing begins.

On Thursday, July 29, at 8:30 pm, my animated short wasp will be screening as part of the Rooftop Films Summer Series on the roof of the Brooklyn Tech Fort Greene, 29 Fort Greene Place.

And if you miss all 2 minutes of wasp on Thursday, you can catch it again on Sunday, August 1 as part of the Animation Block Party at BAM (30 Lafayette Avenue) at 4:30 or 9:15 pm.

If your love affair with your air conditioner is getting a bit old, perhaps we'll see you out and about!

Block Party!

AB_logo-navyI'm excited to announce that "wasp" will be screened during the Animation Block Party on August 1st!  It's getting quite a run this summer :>)  Maybe I'll see you there!

Eleven gets a second chance!

mj_SarahLambNewly back from London, where I had the pleasure of seeing  the incredible Sarah Lamb perform with the Royal Ballet, I have hit the ground running with a couple exciting projects.  Firstly, Sesame Street contacted me about "Lonely Eleven"...and it looks like after a few small changes he'll be in their fall lineup!  And staying with this month's apparent theme of lovely dancers, I will be working on an animation with Kira Blazek for her piece "7 Body Language Mistakes" at Dixon Place in July.  If I didn't have a busted hamstring, I'd be leaping for joy!

Eleven One...er...Won!

Main_Banner_s3I cannot believe it , Mandy and I are  finalists in the Aniboom Sesame Street Contest!  There were many great entries (one of my favorites, "Roll Call", is a finalist alongside us:>)) so it feels pretty amazing to have been selected.  And while we're talking about good news,  I'd also like to highlight that my 10-year old friend Lisa, whose voice work can be heard on "Eleven" and "Inspector Nose, Private Eye", received an A+ on her science project!  Congratulations, Lisa!

Wasp_RooftopSelectionwasp has just been included in the 2010 Rooftop Films Summer Series lineup!  It will be playing on the roof of  Brooklyn Tech in Fort Greene on July 15th, July 29th, 2010!  I am super excited and look forward to seeing all 1.5 minutes of it up there on the big screen!  You should come too!
