I'm excited to announce that "wasp" will be screened during the Animation Block Party on August 1st! It's getting quite a run this summer :>) Maybe I'll see you there!
Newly back from London, where I had the pleasure of seeing the incredible Sarah Lamb perform with the Royal Ballet, I have hit the ground running with a couple exciting projects. Firstly, Sesame Street contacted me about "Lonely Eleven"...and it looks like after a few small changes he'll be in their fall lineup! And staying with this month's apparent theme of lovely dancers, I will be working on an animation with Kira Blazek for her piece "7 Body Language Mistakes" at Dixon Place in July. If I didn't have a busted hamstring, I'd be leaping for joy!
I cannot believe it , Mandy and I are finalists in the Aniboom Sesame Street Contest! There were many great entries (one of my favorites, "Roll Call", is a finalist alongside us:>)) so it feels pretty amazing to have been selected. And while we're talking about good news, I'd also like to highlight that my 10-year old friend Lisa, whose voice work can be heard on "Eleven" and "Inspector Nose, Private Eye", received an A+ on her science project! Congratulations, Lisa!
wasp has just been included in the 2010 Rooftop Films Summer Series lineup! It will be playing on the roof of Brooklyn Tech in Fort Greene on July 15th, July 29th, 2010! I am super excited and look forward to seeing all 1.5 minutes of it up there on the big screen! You should come too!
Mandy and I now have two entries in the Aniboom Sesame Street contest! "Inspector Nose, Private Eye Listens" has debuted at # 129, out of, about, 130! :>) The contest hasn't started yet, but when it does...we'll need your views!
Update!: by 10:30 tonight, we'd made it up to #9! We're creeping back down again, but the ride's been exciting!
Aniboom is having another contest, this time for Sesame Street! So the lovely Mandy Heck and I have teamed up to make a series (hopefully) of animations to enter. So far, we have completed "Lonely Eleven" which can be viewed on my animations page OR can be watched and rated on aniboom.com when voting begins in late April (I'll let everyone know when the time comes to vote, don't you worry!)
As the snow falls outside and while I wait to hear on a few pending projects (yes, even the P.F. film might still be in the works, although without the original production company)...I've been working on a new animation and also taking a class at SVA with Don Duga, who is wonderful. It's been super fun as we've been working on paper and I've only animated using a tablet. My "light table" is an old 18"X24" picture frame with an IKEA ceiling light mounted underneath...it's certainly not pretty but so far Jason hasn't had the urge to build me a new one so I know it's passable :>)
